Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree

Admission to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program is based upon the same philosophy we use when teaching and preparing our students: we seek out and foster academic excellence as well as a strong commitment to the nursing profession. Prospective students are expected to meet specific academic requirements and to show basic technical competencies.


Prospective BSN students are expected to meet the following academic requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or the equivalent
  • An ACT composite standard score of 20 or the equivalent SAT composite score (examinations are waived for applicants who earned their high school diploma at least three years prior to applying to the College)
  • A cumulative letter grade average of a “C” or GPA of 2.75 or higher throughout high school
  • College coursework, if applicable
  • Personal references
  • Personal interview
  • A score of 550 paper or 213 computer on the TOEFL for applicants whose first-learned language is not English

Recommended high school courses include: four years of English and a foreign language, three years of mathematics, social studies and natural sciences.


Consideration will be given to additional test scores or other kinds of assessment if the student does not meet all admissions criteria.


Prospective BSN students are expected to meet the following basic technical competencies:

  • Utilize perceptual skills when providing care and services for clients in all types of settings
  • Safely use essential equipment when providing client care and services in all required settings
  • Move independently when providing care and services for clients

RN to BSN Completion Program

In seeking effective Registered Nurses who are committed to gaining a breadth of knowledge both within and outside of their chosen field, the School of Nursing requires that prospective students entering the RN to BSN Completion Program meet the following admissions criteria:

  • Graduation from an accredited diploma or associate degree from an accredited nursing program
  • Possession of an active, unrestricted Nebraska RN license
  • College coursework, if applicable
  • Personal references
  • Personal interview

Prospective RN to BSN Completion Program students are also expected to meet the following basic technical competencies:

  • Utilize perceptual skills when providing care and services for clients in all types of settings
  • Safely use essential equipment when providing client care and services in all required settings
  • Move independently when providing care and services for clients

Applications for both programs are accepted throughout the year and are reviewed by College staff members as they are received. Classes begin in January and August. Admission is contingent on maintaining a low student-to-teacher ratio—11-to-one—a key aspect of effective clinical and classroom learning at BryanLGH College of Health Sciences School of Nursing. Every applicant is considered, regardless of race, religion, sex, age, creed, color, national origin, ethnicity, marital status, veteran status, disability or sexual orientation.


A completed application consists of the following:

  • An application form and a $25.00 application fee
  • Official high school transcripts (junior grades must be included)
  • Official college transcripts, if applicable
  • Three references
  • SAT or ACT test results, if applicable
  • TOEFL test results, if applicable
  • Personal interview
