All students enrolled in the School of Health Professions at BryanLGH College of Health Sciences participate in unparalleled hands-on experience, completing 1260-1305 clinical hours by graduation, training with state-of-the-art equipment—including our Human/Patient Simulators and Skills Labs—studying with committed faculty and working alongside outstanding medical professionals at multiple urban acute-care facilities and selected specialty clinics, including the BryanLGH Medical Center—one of the most renowned healthcare organizations in the Midwest.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Adult Cardiac Sonography

Students earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Adult Cardiac Sonography do more than learn how to create echocardiograms or ultrasound images of a patient’s heart. They also learn how to use medical technology in a way that helps physicians detect a variety of heart conditions—and help patients gain knowledge, comfort and peace of mind.

 

Students enrolled in this program complete 61 hours of General Education courses and 60 semester hours in the Adult Cardiac Sonography major. Graduates meet published requirements by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) to apply for the examination to become a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Vascular Sonography

Students earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Vascular Sonography use ultrasound to aid in diagnosing vascular disorders—including stroke. Working in cooperation with physicians in direct patient care environments, graduates become skilled at using imaging and non-imaging techniques to detect and address peripheral vascular disease and venous abnormalities.

 

Students enrolled in this program complete 61 hours of General Education courses and 60 semester hours in the Vascular Sonography major. Graduates of the program meet published requirements by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) to apply for the examination to become a Registered Vascular Technologist.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Ultrasound technology can be used to diagnose a range of significant health issues. It also provides the first crucial images of a developing fetus. Students earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program study in the classroom and apply this knowledge in clinical settings to be a part of this exciting—and illuminating—healthcare field.

 

Students enrolled in this program complete 63 hours of General Education courses and 57 semester hours in the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program major. Graduates meet published requirements by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) to apply for the examination to become a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.

Bachelor of Science Degree Completion Option in Health Professions

BryanLGH College of Health Sciences offers an opportunity for graduates of associate degree healthcare programs from regionally accredited colleges or universities to obtain a baccalaureate degree in Health Professions. The curriculum in designed to offer additional general education courses to meet the College requirements for a baccalaureate degree with an emphasis on management courses. The curriculum plan will vary based on course work completed in the associate degree program.

 

A minimum of 120 semester credits, including applicable credits from the associate degree program is required. Following is the minimum number of general education credits required in each category of study to earn a baccalaureate degree in Health Professions from BryanLGH College of Health Sciences.

  • Natural Sciences               16

  • Social Sciences                  9 (Cultural studies (3); Electives (6) 3 must be upper level)

  • Communications                3 ( Public Speaking )

  • Mathematics                      3 ( Intermediate Algebra or higher )

  • Humanities/Fine Arts          9 ( Ethics in Healthcare (3); Composition I (3); Elective (3))

  • Business/Management       12 ( 6 must be upper level )

Associate of Science Degree in Adult Cardiac Sonography
