Internal Review Board

When research studies involve human subjects, protection of the privacy, health, and safety of those subjects must be given priority over all other considerations. To assure that all research studies performed at the BryanLGH College of Health Sciences or the BryanLGH Medical Center follow the highest human subjects’ protection standards, all study proposals must be reviewed and approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB) prior to the start of data collection.

All studies involving faculty or students at the BryanLGH College of Health Sciences must be approved by the College IRB. The Lincoln Area Combined IRB must approve studies involving patients.  After IRB approval has been obtained, studies to be performed at BryanLGH Medical Center must be approved by that organization’s Administrative Approval for Research Committee (AARC). The AARC assures that projects involving the Medical Center are compatible with its systems and processes.

Individuals with projects requiring review by the College IRB or the BryanLGH AARC should contact June Smith at (402) 481-3967.

Those with projects requiring review by the Lincoln Combined IRB should contact Mike German at (402) 219-7792.

If you have additional questions about the Institutional Review Board, contact Dr. June Smith, Director of the Research and Professional Practice Center, at (402) 481-3967.
